Why should I use botanical oils for skincare?
Traditional cream moisturizers and lotions are made of water, oil, and an emulsifier to bind them together. They tend to be high in water and emulsifying agents and low in effective ingredients. Our face and body oils contain no fillers. All ingredients are high performing active ingredients that absorb easily to deliver maximum moisture, vitamins, fatty acids and antioxidants to your skin.
Is everything you make natural?
Yes! Ananda offerings are expertly blended using the highest quality organic and wildcrafted plant derived ingredients and are packaged in recyclable, reusable and locally sourced packaging. All products are free of artificial fragrance, artificial colour, synthetic preservatives, petroleum, palm oil, synthetic emulsifiers, formaldehyde, and parabens.
Are your products vegan?
Our entire product line is vegan with the exception of our lip balms. Ananda lip balms contain beeswax that is locally sourced in Alberta. All products are tested on humans.
Are your products safe to use during pregnancy?

Essential oils that should be avoided during pregnancy include but are not limited to basil, bay laurel, clary sage, clove, helichrysum, juniper berry, lemongrass, rosemary and vetiver. Essential oils generally considered safe during pregnancy include tangerine, mandarin, grapefruit, geranium, roman chamomile, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang and lavender. All Ananda products indicate whether or not they are safe to use during pregnancy.
What is the shelf life of your products?
Ananda products are truly all-natural and do not contain any synthetic preservatives. We use Vitamin E in most of our products, which acts as an antioxidant and natural preservative. Our products have a shelf life of typically 12 months. If products are stored at room temperature and out of direct sunlight, they will stay fresher longer.
Can I wear makeup over face oil?
Yes! Let your skin absorb the oils for 1–3 minutes before applying makeup since the oil does need time to sink in. If your skin feels oily after this, you are using too much facial oil. Most people need 4-5 drops. Please adjust accordingly to your skin’s individual needs.
It can seem counter intuitive to use oil on our face, especially when we have oily or combination skin. What often happens, however, is that we over-wash our skin leading it to overcompensate by producing more oil and sebum. Because or this, dehydrated skin is often mistaken for oily skin. Our facial oils are formulated to thoroughly hydrate your skin without clogging pores so that it can find the balance it needs.
What is the oil cleansing method?
Massage a small amount of cleansing oil over the face. Remember, oil dissolves oil! Like a magnet, the cleansing oil effortlessly and effectively extracts oil, makeup, and other impurities without clogging pores. Dampen a washcloth with hot/warm water, hold it over your face and gently wipe away the oil and impurities using a circular motion.
How do I use body oils?
Moisturizer: Massage into the skin prior to bathing or showering as the increased body heat will allow the oils to absorb more readily. Can also be applied to damp skin after bathing or showering.
Massage: Ananda body oils work wonderfully as aromatherapy massage oils.
Bath: For a decadent bathing experience worthy of Cleopatra, blend two tablespoons of body oil with one cup of whole milk and one tablespoon of honey.
Do your products contain any nut oils?
Yes, select products contain sweet almond oil and hazelnut oil. We recommend consulting your doctor first if you have a nut allergy.
Are your products registered?
Yes! The Notification of Cosmetics has been submitted (or is in the process of being submitted) to Health Canada for most Ananda products. What this means for you is that Health Canada has reviewed each product for potential concerns including unknown ingredients, safety issues, improper classification, and more.
Ananda is also Leaping Bunny Certified. Leaping Bunny works with companies to help make shopping for animal-friendly products easier and more trustworthy.

What is a chakra?
“Chakra” comes from the Sanskrit word for “wheel”. The existence of chakras has been documented for thousands of years and they are discussed in many ancient sacred texts.
Your body has an energy system that consists of chakras (energy pumps) and meridians (channels that transports energy through your body). You have seven major chakras in your body and hundreds of smaller ones.
Each major chakra is connected to certain colours, sounds, body parts, emotional characteristics and more. Congestion in the energy system can be caused by things such as unbalanced or repressed emotions, attitudes, thoughts and traumas. Left unattended it is believed that these can eventually weaken the physical body.
What are the characteristics of the seven major chakras?
